52nd Annual Turf Managers’ Short Course is Going Virtual

Posted on Monday November 16, 2020

This winter, turf industry professionals from around the world can join the remote offering of the annual Turf Managers’ Short Course (TMSC). This intensive course runs from February 1 to 26, 2021 and is offered in partnership with the Guelph Turfgrass Institute and OpenEd, University of Guelph (U of G).

While the idea of remote course delivery may be new and different for many, OpenEd is well-versed in providing innovative and high-quality courses using tools and technology intended for online and remote delivery formats.

Participants can enjoy a similar learning experience as in a classroom-based course and will be able to engage with each other, interact with their instructors, and continue to build a network with other turfgrass professionals. Remote course delivery also allows participants to save money on other expenses such as transportation and accommodation.

The remote delivery format of the month-long course includes synchronous instruction sessions in real time using Zoom with U of G faculty and industry professionals, and asynchronous sessions including pre-recorded lectures, self-guided study, and group activities.

The course covers all aspects of turf culture and management taught by eight experienced professionals. Course topics include turfgrass identification and management, diseases, insects, weeds, irrigation, construction and drainage, and landscape management. The course is accredited by the Canadian Golf Superintendents Association, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and IPM Council of Canada.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will now earn the Turf Managers’ Short Course Certificate.

TMSC graduates have contributed to the growth and success of the turf industry for more than five decades.

TMSC online registration is now open with early bird pricing in effect until November 27, 2020.
