While candy and treats are typically the only things given at Halloween, the staff at Open Learning and Educational Support (OpenEd) generously gave to United Way through a Halloween coffee break social. In the short span of an hour, OpenEd donated more than $100 to the campaign, and raised $90 plus three boxes of items for the Guelph Student Food Bank Drive.
To date, OpenEd has collected more than $11,500 for United Way, surpassing the initial goal of $10,500.
During the social, there were many fun ways to donate while enjoying the Halloween spirit. There were two door prizes, a candy jar guessing game, and a wild card game of chance. Congratulations to the winners of the prizes: Rich Couto, Karen Hyland, Steve Borho, Sharon Campbell-Claessens and David Macdonald.
