OpenEd Among Recipients of United Way Campaign Awards

OpenEd has been recognized with two United Way awards for ongoing and dedicated support.

OpenEd received one of two 2020 Spirit Awards, which is given to the department that demonstrates outstanding United Way support and spirit—meeting or exceeding their goals, and demonstrating enthusiasm, creativity, and innovation. During the 2020 campaign, OpenEd raised $9,736.38 for United Way through fun events, incentive raffles, and prize draws.

Not only did the department win an award, a member of the OpenEd team was also recognized with one of the Campaign Co-Chair Awards. Carmela Delle Donne, marketing and recruitment, English Language Programs, was presented with the award for her exceptional leadership and commitment to the United Way campaign.

“At a very early age, I was instilled with giving back and supporting communities, making time for those who need a hand up,” says Carmela. “United Way provides support to so many different not-for-profit organizations—this is one of the reasons I advocate and volunteer each year with them. I am thankful to OpenEd for encouraging its staff to take time from work to give back to our greater community.”

OpenEd’s 2021 campaign is well underway, already completing more than 87% of this year’s goal.

United Way of Guelph, Wellington, and Dufferin strives to meet existing and emerging social needs in order to improve lives and build community.
