Text image that reads: Welcome from our executive director.

Michelle Fach.

As I write this welcome, the world is facing a significant pandemic and we are all doing our part to keep our communities and families safe and healthy. We are also working to support our faculty, students and staff at the University of Guelph as they navigate through this tumultuous time and prepare for our new reality.

I predict that our new reality will include the availability of an increasing number of online opportunities and a more intentional use of technology in all forms of teaching and learning. OpenEd has a long history of extending the teaching and research expertise of the University of Guelph through online learning and technology-supported instruction. With decades of experience, a strong platform and a commitment to quality, we will continue to develop new offerings, programs and approaches to meet the learning needs of our local, national and international audiences.

As I reflect on the past year, I am extremely proud of many aspects of our work. This includes the launch of new programs, such as the Horticulture and Landscape Design Certificates and Diplomas; our work to expand our pathways and create more flexible ways in which individuals can engage in courses and programs; and how we celebrate the successes of our students, including our graduation ceremonies.

I am proud of our work to support faculty as they seek new ways to enhance their pedagogical and assessment approaches using technology. Our team is committed to supporting instructors in the classroom and virtually as they build learning environments that are innovative and accessible, and support the achievement of outcomes.

I am fortunate to work with a team of dedicated individuals who collectively work to make a difference in the lives of all with whom we connect…directly and indirectly. We remain positive about the future and will continue to advance our mission with ambition, accountability and excellence.

Michelle Fach | Executive Director
