Most distance education (DE) courses require students to write a traditional sit-down final exam at the University of Guelph. Students studying at a distance can submit a request to the Distance Education Examination Coordinator (DE Exam Coordinator) to write at an alternative exam location.
Generally, an off-campus exam is scheduled on the same date as the on-campus exam; however, when the on-campus exam is scheduled at the end of the exam period, it is necessary to schedule the off-campus exam at the beginning of the exam week to allow sufficient time for exam delivery, marking and submission of final grades.
To address concerns raised by some faculty members and by the Board of Undergraduate Studies about the possibility of on- and off-campus students who write on a different day/time sharing exam content, you are provided with the options below in order to eliminate this potential and to protect the integrity of the exam process. The DE Exam Coordinator will contact instructors in Week 1 of each semester to determine which option is preferred.
A hard copy of your exam is due to the DE Exam Coordinator in Week 8 of the semester. Exams for both on- and off-campus students are due on this date to accommodate exam printing and delivery deadlines.
Physical Resources will deliver final exams for on-campus students to an instructor's department during Week 12 of the semester. Instructors may also request to pick up their exams at our main office.
Once exams have been written off campus, invigilators are instructed to return the exams via courier the day after they are written. International exams may take up to a week to return back to campus; however, faxed or scanned copies of the exams will be delivered to you in the event of any delays.
For further information regarding instructor responsibilities for final exams, consult the Undergraduate Calendar.
It is assumed that all students will be writing their final examination on-campus at the University of Guelph unless an alternate location has been requested.
University of Guelph degree and associate diploma students must check WebAdvisor for their examination schedule.
Open Learning program students must check the Open Learning program final exam schedule for their examination schedule. Please note this information is subject to change and students are responsible for monitoring the schedule for any changes.
Please note that the on-campus location will be posted approximately one week before the start of the final examination period.
