Web Conferencing Classroom Series: Hybrid & Flipped Classroom Orientations

decorative icon.

OpenEd’s Classroom Technical Support (CTS) team continues to support faculty as they transition to either of the two web conferencing classroom types—Lecture Web Conferencing (Hybrid) and Seminar Web Conferencing (Flipped). These classrooms allow instructors the flexibility to teach face-to-face, remotely, or a combination of both.

OpenEd’s Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) team continues to provide programming and orientations dedicated to helping instructors learn how the web conferencing technology in the classrooms work, and offer guidance on what sort of activities instructors may wish to try based on classroom type. New programming and orientation opportunities from the ITS team, related to the web conferencing classrooms, will be added to this page as they become available.

OpenEd's Web Conferencing demonstration classroom in Day Hall (room 118) is also available for booking. Instructors may complete our Demonstration Classroom Booking Form to arrange an orientation with an instructional technology specialist, test their system with Classroom Technical Support, or simply practice using the equipment outside of class.

Web Conferencing Classroom Series: W22 Web Conferencing Classroom Scheduled Drop-Ins

Location: Day Hall, Room 118
Facilitators: Carolyn Creighton and Owen Wooding | Instructional Technology Specialists, OpenEd

Description

With the University moving on-campus courses to a remote teaching and learning format until January 24, and in the interest of the health and safety of all, we are making the following changes to the Web Conferencing classroom drop-ins:

  1. Rather than a single first-come, first served offering, we will now schedule individual sessions for each interested instructor.
  2. Sessions can still be booked for January 7 or can be scheduled for a later date closer to the January 24 return to campus.

The intent of a drop-in session is for you to test your laptop with the classroom technology and walk through the setup process with guidance from an OpenEd instructional technology specialist (ITS) or Classroom Technical Support (CTS) staff member.

Before coming to your sessions, we recommend that you take some time to familiarize yourself with the setup process ahead of time by reviewing the Web Conference Classrooms Documentation that is applicable to your system.

Session recordings and presentation slides for past sessions are available below.
