Admission to a degree program is based on your Open Learning program academic record, not your high school transcript.
*Please note that in order to qualify for guaranteed admission, you must not have any previous post-secondary experience.
All Open Learning program degree-credit courses are delivered entirely online for maximum flexibility and convenience. Typically, students register for two online courses per semester for two consecutive semesters. Provided that you meet the requirements outlined below, you will be eligible to transfer to a University of Guelph degree program in the following semester.
Requirements for Admission to the Bachelor of Arts Program |
As an Open Learning program student interested in pursuing the pathway to a University of Guelph Bachelor of Arts program, you are required to complete four courses (2.0 credits) with a 70% minimum cumulative average. The credits from the four courses you complete in this pathway will transfer to your undergraduate studies and count towards your degree. Please note that applicants are not eligible for direct entry to CJPP or co-op programs. For applicants interested in the BA, Economics or Mathematical Economics majors, you must have Advanced Functions (MHF4U), MATH*1030, or equivalent. Within the BA pathway, it is recommended you take two courses (1.00 credits) from the arts/humanities and two courses (1.00 credits) from the social sciences.
While you are in the pathway, the Open Learning program Counsellor will send you an application to undergraduate studies where you can note which major you want to take. There will be a $50 transfer fee. Once the fee has been paid and the application completed, it will be forwarded to the undergraduate office. Upon completion of the four courses with a 70% average, the undergraduate office will reach out to you directly with next steps on how to transfer into full time studies. |

If you are, however, interested in any of the other commerce majors, and you haven’t completed any 4U math courses, then you will need to complete MATH*1030 and another math or statistics course (e.g., STAT*2040) to meet the math admission requirement to these majors.
