Continuing Education General Classroom Course Information

The following information will assist you in preparation for your continuing education courses.

CourseLink Login Instructions

Your course or program may make use of CourseLink, the online learning management system for the University of Guelph, and offers various features to enhance your learning experience. CourseLink provides you with a learning space to connect with your instructor and other students in the class. You will find your course outline, student materials, readings and resource materials, grades, and your assignment submission dropbox.

Use the following instructions to log into CourseLink:

  • Log into CourseLink to access your course website.
  • Enter your Single Sign On credentials (central login ID and password); these are the same credentials you use to access the OpenEd Student Portal. If you are taking a course through OpenEd for the first time, this information was emailed to you upon registration. If you are a returning student, use your existing login and password.
  • If you have forgotten your password, email CourseLink Technical Support or phone 519-824-4120 ext. 56939 or 1-866-275-1478 (toll free).
  • If the password is listed as 'call 8888', use your existing Single Sign On credentials (central login ID and password).
  • It is important to register for Password Reset. This service allows you to reset your own password at any time, from any computer with an internet connection. Without password insurance, the University can only reset a password Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Once you have logged into CourseLink, click on the name of the course you are registered for and you will be taken to the 'Course Home'. See the 'Announcements' section. To get started, go to 'Start Here' on the navigation bar for information on how to navigate the course website and make use of the tools.

Library Cards and Accessing Ares

If you wish to access the University of Guelph library resources in person or wish to borrow books from another university library (as long as they have a reciprocal borrowing privilege agreement with the University of Guelph), please contact us to request a physical copy of the library card.

Off-Campus Login

When you are off campus, you are able to access the library using the Off Campus Login and your Single Sign On credentials.

You can access the library from the library homepage.

Ares

Your course may have resources placed on reserve at the University of Guelph McLaughlin Library. Materials on reserve can be in any format—journal articles from the library holdings, book chapters, worksheets, audiovisual materials and other resources used in your course.

Use the following instructions to access online course materials via Ares (Course Reserves):

  • Once you have access to CourseLink, click on the 'Ares' link in the navbar.
  • Under the heading of 'Reserve Item', click the hyperlink for 'View this item'.
  • At this point you should be able to view the resource.
  • You can work from the materials online, download, or print a PDF version.

Please note that resources which state “Item Available at Reserve Desk” are physical resources that can be picked up at the library.

Ares Contact and Support
