Charging Policies

Teaching Use

Teaching use of installed or portable AV equipment is not subject to charges. Examples of teaching use include the following:

  • Faculty teaching credit courses
  • Students working on credit-course projects

Exceptions to this teaching use policy are:

  • laptop computers
  • portable equipment not returned within 5 business days 
  • equipment delivery* and setup

*Avoid delivery fees by picking up equipment from Day Hall, Room 108.

Non-Teaching Use

Internal

Non-teaching use of installed classroom and portable equipment is chargeable at subsidized internal rates. Labour rates apply for setup and delivery. A valid University ID or departmental code is required. See our Terms and Conditions regarding liability.

Examples of non-teaching use include the following:

  • Departmental meetings and colloquiums
  • Departmental conferences, workshops, and courses where a registration fee is charged
  • Faculty research, including that related to course development
  • Preparation of instructional materials
  • Student clubs
  • Employee associations and unions
  • Special events
  • Personal use by University employees

External

Depending on availability, outside groups may rent equipment at external rates.  Labour rates apply for setup and delivery.  See our Terms and Conditions regarding liability.


Labour Rates

Classroom Technical Support labour is charged in half-hour increments.

$76.25/hour:

  • Monday to Friday – 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Monday to Friday – 1 to 4:30 p.m.

$114.25/hour:

  • Monday to Friday – prior to 8:30 a.m.
  • Monday to Friday – 12 to 1 p.m.
  • Monday to Friday – after 4:30 p.m. 
  • Saturdays (minimum 3 hours)

$152.50/hour:

  • Sundays (minimum 3 hours)

Methods of Payment

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • credit card--Visa® or MasterCard®
  • cash or debit
  • cheque
  • GL Code (departmental authorization required)

Please note that a security deposit is required for credit card, cash, debit and cheque payment options.


Passwords

Passwords are required when using classroom technology where control panels are installed. If a GL code is used for payment, passwords will not be provided without departmental authorization.
